We're hiring a full-time Vocational Peer Support Specialist to work with people in Dane County, Wisconsin. You'll use your own experience with mental health or substance use challenges and comprehensive peer training to help others on their recovery journey. You will provide one-on-one support to help people with their vocational goals.


Your responsibilities will include:

  • Cultivating empowering and supportive relationships with peers that promote self-advocacy and stigma-busting activities.
  • Utilizing cultural humility to provide appropriate interventions that support the recovery and healing of those we serve. You'll seek to understand the role culture, community, and identity play in peers’ lives.
  • Supporting peers in problem-solving and working through negative self-talk when barriers arise around their goals.
  • Attending Recovery Team meetings to promote self-determination as a guiding ethical principle and to educate about the peer support movement.
  • Walking side-by-side with peers as they obtain services and information that suit their individual recovery needs when requested. This includes assisting with completing job applications, building resumes, and exploring a connection with something bigger than themselves.
  • Encouraging increased social skills in the community and various other skills to support success within the workplace and in the community.
  • Maintaining all service documentation accurately and submitting it within established timeframes, including progress notes, hour logs, and monthly reports.


Qualifications

  • Must be a Wisconsin Certified Peer Specialist with an active certificate.
  • Have a strong commitment to the principles of recovery and person-centered services.
  • Possess knowledge of federal and state laws regarding confidential information.
  • Be highly computer literate with using tech applications such as Google Workspace, etc.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a variety of teams.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, a car for work use, and automobile insurance.


Work Environment and Schedule

  • A majority of time is spent meeting peers and delivering services out in the community.
  • Staff have the ability to create their own meeting schedule with peers and will attend weekly supervision, team, and Chrysalis community meetings.
  • The regular work week is Monday through Friday. Some evening or weekend hours may be required to meet peer or agency needs.
  • This is a shared office/Clubhouse setting in downtown Madison.


Compensation and Benefits

  • The annual starting salary ranges from $43,000 to $50,000, commensurate with qualifications and previous CPS experience.
  • Benefits include health and dental insurance, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, and a retirement plan, EAP & wellness support
  • Paid time off, paid holidays, and mileage reimbursement are also provided. Training opportunities, professional development
