What are the responsibilities and job description for the Revenue Collection Specialist - Inbound Call Center position at Chesterfield County, VA?
Minimum Qualifications
Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in the more difficult and complex property tax revenue; assists with handling citizen communications; performs customer service duties; assists deputy in support role of collection of delinquent property taxes.
Other Duties:
- Researches and responds to the more sensitive and complex customer inquiries and concerns.
- Applies experience working personal property, real estate, and business tax related fields.
- Processes correspondence received in the Delinquent Collections area, researching as necessary to provide appropriate assistance as well as processing returned mail.
- Removes DMV stops on accounts due to delinquent taxes.
- Manages high-volume customer interactions including inbound calls/emails/chats with the ability to provide outstanding customer service.
- Assists taxpayers over the phone as needed with payment plan applications and answering questions regarding tax payment and the delinquent collections process.
- Provide assistance in the collection of delinquent accounts for other County departments.
- Researches and resolves difficult and complex customer account issues.
- Performs a wide variety of office support tasks (e.g. scanning, data entry, setting up files) and performs other work as required.
Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Working knowledge of the principles and practices of customer service; of standard office practices and procedures; general knowledge and understanding of the payment processing procedures for the various County departments where payments are accepted. Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with the public; to interact with a variety of people from different cultures and backgrounds and of varying ages; to perform mathematical calculations; to communicate effectively orally and in writing; to operate a personal computer and related software and other standard office equipment; to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers. Minimum Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED; three years of customer service experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check and education/degree verification required.
To maintain pay equity among staff, the ideal candidate will be offered $48,123 with flexibility based on direct experience.
