Senior Cost Accountant Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis
The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for leading cost accounting and operational finance activities across the organization. This role plays a critical part in driving cost visibility, margin improvement, and operational decision support within a complex manufacturing environment.
This position partners closely with operations, supply chain, engineering, and finance leadership to ensure accurate product costing, actionable financial insights, and continuous improvement in financial processes and systems.
Senior Cost Accountant Key Responsibilities
Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis
- Lead month-end close for cost accounting, ensuring accurate COGS and inventory valuation
- Analyze material usage, labor efficiency, and overhead expense variances
- Provide insights on margin performance and profitability
- Support enterprise reporting; e.g., quarterly margin reports, USCMA and FTA, capacity planning
- Oversee standard cost development and annual cost roll
- Maintain BOMs, routings, and cost structures
- Develop cost models for new products and engineering changes
- Partner with plant leadership on cost control and efficiency
- Support forecasting and operational decision-making
- Provide insights into scrap and production efficiency
- Own ERP cost structures and data integrity
- Drive system enhancements and reporting improvements
- Improve processes for better accuracy and efficiency
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–8 years of cost accounting experience
- Manufacturing experience required
- Strong ERP and Excel skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and collaboration across different departments
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to work On-site
Salary : $75,000 - $95,000
