About The Role
The Staff Accountant will support day-to-day accounting operations while participating in process improvement and system modernization initiatives. This role was created as part of an internal restructuring to strengthen the accounting function and support future growth.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Execute daily transactional accounting activities, including:
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Payroll processing
- Cash receipts and collections
- Partner with Customer Service on aged receivables, billing questions, and collection efforts
- Prepare journal entries and support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close
- Assist with process improvement, documentation, cross-training, and modernization of accounting systems
- Support regulatory reporting and data gathering related to annual rate cases
- Prior experience in general accounting, AR/AP, or transactional finance
- Strong attention to detail with a desire to learn the why behind the numbers
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, collaborative, small-team environment
- Interest in process improvement, efficiency, and professional growth
- Experience or interest in regulated industries is a plus, but not required
- Solid accounting processes already in place, you’re joining a functional team, not fixing dysfunction
- Leadership that values mentorship, stability, and internal development
