Responsibilities For Controller
- Own and oversee the month-end close process and review financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) across a multi-entity structure
- Review journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance
- Serve as the technical accounting expert, including research and documentation for areas such as revenue recognition, leases, and inventory/COGS
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies, procedures, and the overall internal control environment
- Lead the external audit process end-to-end, including planning, coordination, and issue resolution
- Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with financial results
- Review variance analysis and partner with leadership to provide insights and support decision-making
- Support strategic initiatives, including financial modeling, business expansions, and operational decisions
- Oversee tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions and manage relationships with external tax advisors
- Own and improve accounting systems, tools, and workflows, driving efficiency and scalability
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Qualifications for Controller
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Public accounting experience
- Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, telehealth, lab services, or other regulated environments
- Strong US GAAP and technical accounting expertise
- Experience in a multi-entity environment with intercompany activity
- Proven ownership of external audit processes
- Experience managing and developing teams
- CPA (active or inactive)
- Exposure to multi-state tax, sales/use tax, or payroll tax
- Experience managing external tax advisors
- Familiarity with mid-market accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks and similar tools)
