Chemical Engineer

CFD Research is supporting the development of an advanced high speed/hypersonic (HS/H) Hot Air Tunnel (HAT) which will have the ability to maintain high quality flow characteristics and significantly advance the capabilities of current testing facilities. The Chemical Engineer in this role will support development of oxidizer compounds involving nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitrogen tetroxide (N2O4). In addition to development, candidate will support test and analysis of the chemicals, components and hardware as part of the overall system development effort. opportunities.

The position will join a multidiscipline team working design, prototyping and testing of the various components of this complex technology development effort. Candidate will need to comfortable in working across disciplines and supporting design, development and testing tasks including failure analysis and insuring end product meets all customer requirements.

Requirements

• Candidate must be a US Citizen and meet eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance
• Candidate must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering (or related STEM Discipline) from an accredited university (Preferred candidate will have an advanced degree)
• Experience developing chemical process technology for propulsion applications is required, preferred candidate will have exposure to nitrous oxide and/or nitrogen tetroxide for propulsion applications
• Experience and familiarity with mechanical design Computer Aided Design tools such as Creo or Solidworks, specifically as it relates to developing the apparatus and controls systems to manage the chemical reactions, is preferred (exposure to ASME Power Piping and Boiler codes are a plus as well)
• Experience with Modeling and Simulation Codes to predict system performance, specifically as it relates to the development of the specific propellant mixture is a plus as well
