Responsibilities
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory standards.
Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing processes.
Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial data.
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Ensure compliance with SOX controls and other regulatory requirements relevant to corporate or governmental accounting.
Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations during internal or external audits.
Maintain accurate records using various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
Perform cash flow analysis and prepare financial reports for management review.
Mentor junior staff or interns in technical accounting concepts such as double entry bookkeeping, debits & credits, and financial report writing.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA certification preferred.
Proven experience in corporate accounting, governmental accounting, or non-profit accounting environments.
Strong knowledge of GAAP principles, SEC regulations (if applicable), and securities law considerations.
Proficiency with accounting software including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or equivalent systems.
Familiarity with technical accounting topics such as accrual accounting, Wills & estate law (nice-to-have), and regulatory reporting requirements.
Experience with tax preparation and tax experience is advantageous.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
