Operations Manager – Construction

Position Overview
A growing construction contractor is seeking a high-level Operations Manager to lead regional project operations, workforce management, safety, productivity, and P&L performance. This leader will ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to quality standards while driving continuous improvement across the business.
This role is ideal for someone with strong operational leadership experience in mechanical, electrical, or general construction who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-project environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day field operations across multiple jobsites within the region.
- Drive productivity, scheduling, manpower planning, and workflow optimization.
- Implement operational systems, best practices, and process improvements.
- Support project teams with technical problem-solving and operational guidance.
People & Workforce Management
- Lead and mentor field and operational staff; develop future leaders.
- Manage staffing plans, hiring needs, onboarding, and training programs.
- Conduct performance reviews and maintain accountability for operational results.
- Oversee labor allocation to maximize efficiency and project execution.
Project Execution & Performance
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure deliverables, budgets, and timelines are met.
- Approve schedules, review project metrics, and drive corrective actions where needed.
- Monitor quality assurance and proactively resolve field or coordination issues.
- Support procurement, material logistics, and subcontractor oversight.
Safety & Compliance
- Champion a strong safety culture; enforce OSHA and company safety standards.
- Conduct jobsite audits, toolbox talks, and corrective-action planning.
- Ensure regulatory compliance across all projects and teams
Financial & KPI Accountability
- Monitor labor costs, equipment usage, profitability, and operational KPIs.
- Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and regional operational strategy.
- Identify opportunities to reduce cost, increase margin, and improve project execution.
Qualifications
- 5–10 years of construction operations leadership (mechanical/electrical preferred).
- Proven success managing field teams across multiple concurrent projects.
- Strong understanding of project management, scheduling, and workforce planning.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel within the region and manage multiple jobsite demands.
