Carolina PRG is excited to partner with a well-established manufacturing organization seeking a Temporary Cost Accountant to support key accounting and financial operations during a critical business period. This position will work closely with both finance and operational leadership, helping maintain accurate financial reporting, support cost analysis initiatives, and contribute to process improvements across the accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
- Analyze operating results and investigate variances related to manufacturing, inventory, and overhead costs
- Maintain inventory accounting records and assist with inventory reconciliations and cycle count reviews
- Manage fixed asset accounting, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and related reporting
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities
- Support capital project tracking and accounting for equipment and facility investments
- Review product costing and pricing data to support business decision-making
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and operational reports for management
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Assist with audit requests and ensure compliance with company accounting policies
- Monitor balance sheet accounts and perform detailed reconciliations
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies within the accounting function
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month-end close processes
- Experience with inventory, cost accounting, or fixed assets is highly preferred
- Advanced Excel skills and experience working within an ERP system
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
