What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interim Cost Accountant position at StevenDouglas?
StevenDouglas is partnering with a manufacturing client seeking an Interim Senior Cost Accountant for a 6-month project. This need is 3 days/week on-site in Statesville, North Carolina.
This individual will assist with the following tasks:
- Set up standard costs, run quarterly cost rolls, and analyze material, labor, and overhead variances
- Partner with engineering and product development on new business costing for price quoting
- Support materials management with year-end physical inventory and ongoing cycle count program
- Reconcile perpetual inventory to the general ledger monthly.
- Handle month-end close, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Process CAPEX requests and report the financial impact of capital projects
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- 5 years of progressive accounting experience with a cost accounting focus
- CPA or CMA preferred; strong experience considered in lieu of certification
- Manufacturing or distribution industry experience
- Advanced ERP experience in a manufacturing environment (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
- Strong GAAP technical knowledge
- Ability to step into the role quickly and bring value with minimal guidance
