Accounting Manager Position:
As Accounting Manager, you will lead a client-facing accounting function for a client in the Private Wealth space that we've partnered with, providing strategic oversight and comprehensive support to a sophisticated client base. This role is based in Somerset, New Jersey and is designed for a seasoned professional who can lead and mentor a team while building strong client relationships.
You will serve as a key member of our senior leadership team, helping guide a growing accounting function that delivers comprehensive financial reporting and accounting services. The ideal candidate brings substantial experience from a specialized wealth management firm or similar client-service organization, along with the professional judgment and interpersonal skills needed to engage directly with clients on complex financial matters.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead a team of accounting professionals, providing direction, mentorship, and oversight across varying experience levels.
- Manage client relationships directly, ensuring high-quality accounting support, responsiveness, and professional service to sophisticated private clients and their related entities.
- Oversee the delivery of accounting, financial reporting, and related services for clients, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with expectations for a high-touch service environment.
- Partner with senior leadership to align priorities, support team execution, and maintain operational consistency across a busy and growing function.
- Contribute to process and system improvements, including supporting software transitions and helping the team adapt effectively to operational change as the business evolves.
Job Qualifications
- CPA strongly preferred; if not currently certified, highly qualified candidates should be open to pursuing the credential.
- Significant progressive accounting experience with demonstrated leadership responsibility, including prior success managing teams and overseeing work across multiple client accounts.
- Background in a specialized wealth management firm or organization providing accounting services to private clients is highly preferred; experience in comparable client-service environments supporting complex client relationships is especially valuable.
- Strong interpersonal skills, professional presence, and the ability to communicate comfortably and professionally with clients regarding complex financial matters.
- Demonstrated career stability and progression, with a preference for candidates who have built tenure in prior roles and bring clearly transferable experience.
- Experience with ERP/GL systems and comfort working through platform or system transitions; openness to process improvement is important.
- U.S. work authorization required for this opportunity.
Salary : $170,000 - $190,000
