This facility is a well established manufacturing company that specializes in the heat treatment and coating of automotive components. We have operations in Pontiac, Homer, Flint, Plymouth, and Puebla Mexico. This job opportunity is at our headquarters location in Pontiac. The furnace operator position runs our furnace while assisting in heat treat shop activities by performing the following duties.
Essential Job Functions (this is general guidelines, other duties may be assigned);
Follow specific work instructions and best practices to safely and accurately complete daily work assignments in a timely manner
Support all operational processes and procedures to ensure value to the customer and compliance with all policies, customer requirements and federal/state/local regulations
Inspect each pallet and/or baskets to determine quantity and note any damaged, defective or suspect material.
Operates Fork Tuck, after receiving proper safety clearance, to move material and/or containers to our furnaces
Operate and monitor our furnace through all stages of the process
Completes all necessary paperwork to document the furnace process and any conflicts that could arise
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area
Perform duties in a safe and productive manner
Participate in all assigned training programs and adhere to all learning’s
Maintain a conscientious attitude, display initiative and a pleasant positive disposition, and work as a team oriented participant
Perform other duties as assigned
All shifts available.
Shifts:
Day shift: 7am - 7pm
Night shift: 7pm - 7am
12 hour shifts, but you will alternate between working only a 3 day(36 hour) and 4 day(48 hour) week.
Optional overtime.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma and/or GED equivalent
Ability to read and interpret documents and manuals
Ability to understand basic calculations (such as Add/Subtract)
Ability to understand basic computer skills (such as Word/Excel/Email)
Ability to communicate well with other employees
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, finger/handle/feel, climb, balance and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
