What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping and Receiving Clerk position at Career Connections Staffing Services?
Principal Purpose of Job: Shipping/Receiving Personnel assist in heat treat activities such as loading and unloading incoming/outgoing shipments, inspecting parts, and packaging/labeling pallets for outgoing shipments.
Essential Job Functions (this is a general guideline; other duties may be assigned):
1. Follow specific work instructions and best practices to safely and accurately complete daily work assignments in a timely manner
2. Support all operational processes and procedures to ensure value to the customer and compliance with all company policies, customer requirements and federal/state/local regulations
- Compares identifying information and counts, weights, or measures of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, or other records.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damages items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Inputs receiving data into computer system and investigates/communicate with manager on any missing data.
- Determines method of shipment and compiles appropriate paperwork (shipper, bill of lading, certifications, etc.).
- Verifies shipping labels are on packed cartons identifying shipping information.
- Verifies parts are placed in customer containers to minimize the possibility of damage to parts during transit.
- Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications and all necessary paperwork is attached.
- Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies and submits to office as needed.
- Shrink wrap and/or band parts/containers.
- Operates lift truck to stage material in proper location when unloading trucks.
- Help in the process of racking and un-racking as needed to minimize downtime on furnaces. Improving the utilization of the equipment.
- Helps in loading and unloading trucks, inputting work into inventory software on the computer.
- Reviews production and operating reports and resolve operational and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
- Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data; such as all incoming paperwork, nonconforming material reports or other in-process information, process control cards (PCC) for all work received, scheduled and processed on shift.
- Assures that all data applied to the equipment utilized to process parts or other process data required is acquired in a timely and accurately and acted upon as directed by quality procedures.
- Maintains a clean work area to facilitate a safe, clean work environment. Follow all designated safety regulations.
- Reports to work on-time and maintains a good attendance record. Follows procedure when requesting time-off.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Shifts:
Day shift: 7am - 7pm
Night shift: 7pm - 7am
12 hour shifts, but you will alternate between working only a 3 day(36 hour) and 4 day(48 hour) week.
Optional overtime.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma and/or GED equivalent
- One to three months training or related experience.
3. Must pass a drug test
4. Ability to read and interpret documents and manuals
5. Ability to understand basic calculations (such as Add/Subtract)
6. Ability to understand basic computer skills (such as Word/Excel/Email)
7. Ability to communicate well with other employees
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, finger/handle/feel, climb, balance and kneel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
