Housekeeping Aide
Position Summary
The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, sanitary, and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors throughout the facility. This position performs routine cleaning and disinfecting duties in resident rooms, common areas, offices, and other designated areas while following infection prevention standards and facility policies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, hallways, dining rooms, offices, nursing stations, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and polish floors and furniture.
- Empty trash containers and dispose of waste according to facility procedures.
- Clean windows, mirrors, doors, and other surfaces.
- Replenish paper products, soap, hand sanitizer, and other housekeeping supplies.
- Make beds and change linens as assigned.
- Follow established infection control procedures, including proper use of disinfectants and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, and equipment needing repair.
- Maintain housekeeping equipment in clean and safe working condition.
- Respond promptly and courteously to resident and staff requests.
- Practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques.
- Maintain resident privacy, dignity, and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Attend required in-service education, safety training, and staff meetings.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous housekeeping experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience in healthcare or long-term care is a plus.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, and reach.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to operate housekeeping equipment safely.
- Work around cleaning chemicals while following safety guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of cleaning methods and infection prevention practices.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.

Working Conditions
