Dietary Aide
Buffalo Prairie Care Center
Location: Buffalo, MO
Position Type: Full-Time
Starting Wage: $15.00 per hour
Position Summary
Buffalo Prairie Care Center is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and hardworking Dietary Aide to join our team. As a Dietary Aide, you will play an essential role in providing nutritious, high-quality meals to our residents while maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary dining environment. The ideal candidate enjoys working with seniors, demonstrates excellent customer service, and is committed to enhancing the dining experience for our residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist with meal preparation according to standardized recipes and dietary guidelines.
- Prepare meal trays and serve meals following physician-ordered diets and resident preferences.
- Deliver meals and snacks to residents in a courteous and timely manner.
- Assist residents during mealtimes as needed while promoting dignity and independence.
- Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas, dining rooms, and kitchen equipment.
- Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, and infection prevention standards.
- Properly store food items and rotate inventory using FIFO (First In, First Out) procedures.
- Stock kitchen supplies and notify the Dietary Manager of items needing replenishment.
- Dispose of trash and maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment.
- Work cooperatively with nursing staff and other departments to meet resident nutritional needs.
- Follow all facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and resident rights.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dietary Manager or Administrator.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous dietary, food service, or healthcare experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to obtain or maintain a Food Handler's Permit if required.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Dependable attendance and positive attitude.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 pounds.
