LOCATION: Macomb County TRAINING/START DATE: ASAPTITLE/JOB DESCRIPTION: Food Truck Operator and/or Food ExpeditorPOSITION OVERVIEW:Love BBQ, craft beer, and working events? Brown Iron Brewhouse is looking for a Food Truck Operator who may also want to potentially work as a Food Expeditor to send out and/or take some of our most popular menu items on the road to local events, festivals, and community gatherings. What we're known for is our huge craft beer selection, smoked BBQ, and scratch-made pub food, all served in a relaxed, community-focused environment. We believe great restaurants are built by great people, and we take pride in creating a workplace where team members enjoy coming to work. This role is perfect for someone who is reliable, hardworking, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be interacting with guests, preparing and serving food, and helping create the fun, welcoming experience Brown Iron is known for. This position requires someone who can work independently, handle food preparation and cash transactions, drive the company food truck to events, and maintain excellent food safety and cleanliness standards.We’re not looking for corporate robots — we’re looking for people with personality who care about hospitality and want to be part of building a strong team culture. We provide training, coaching, and support so you can feel confident and successful in your role.If you enjoy great food, great beer, and great people, we’d love to have you join the Brown Iron team.FOOD TRUCK OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Operate and drive the company food truck to event locations (up to 100 miles away)Prepare and cook menu items according to company recipes and food safety standardsHandle cash and card transactions accuratelyProvide friendly and professional customer serviceSet up and break down the food truck at event sitesMaintain a clean and sanitary work environmentFollow proper food handling, storage, and temperature control proceduresTrack sales, inventory usage, and event performance using basic Excel sheetsCommunicate with management regarding inventory, scheduling, and event logisticsEnsure the truck is stocked, organized, and ready for service before each eventFOOD EXPEDITOR RESPONSIBILITIESAct as the primary communication link between the kitchen and the service staff to ensure orders are accurate and timelyDouble-check every ticket for allergen or dietary restrictions to ensure the kitchen has followed safety protocols perfectlyInspect every plate before it leaves the kitchen to verify it meets quality, portion, and presentation standardsAssist in final dish preparation by adding final garnishes and sauces to plates and ensuring all necessary sides are includedMaintain fast serviceUphold quality and sanitation standardsCommunicating orders and information between the front of house and back of the houseMonitor the flow of the kitchen line and alert managers if the \pace\ of the room is getting backed upCoordinate the timing of various dishes so that every guest at a table receives their meal at the same timeOversee the movement of orders from a guest placing the order to the cleaning of the tableOrganize and clean the \pass\ area, managing trays and screen tickets to keep the window clearQuickly address any mistakes or remakes to ensure they are prioritized and sent out immediatelyFOOD TRUCK OPERATOR QUALIFICATIONS:2 years of experience in a restaurant, kitchen, or foodservice environmentValid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportationComfortable driving a company vehicleExperience handling cash and POS transactionsStrong customer service skillsBasic knowledge of Excel or spreadsheet trackingUnderstanding of food safety standards and sanitation practicesAbility to perform basic math for transactions and inventoryExcellent personal hygiene and professional appearanceMust be willing to travel up to 100 miles for eventsAbility to work independently and stay organized in a fast-paced environmentPositive attitude and strong work ethicAbsolute commitment to food safety and allergy protocols to ensure a safe experience for guests with dietary restrictionsProficiency in knife skills and the ability to maintain consistency in portioning and presentationAbility to remain calm and focused during a heavy \rush\ while maintaining clear communicationFOOD EXPEDITOR QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to track and organize multiple order tickets simultaneously in a high-pressure, loud environmentClear and confident communication skills to direct both kitchen staff and serversA high level of urgency and the ability to stay calm during peak rushesSharp attention to detail to catch errors in plating, temperature, or ingredients before they reach the guestThorough knowledge of the menu, including ingredients and specific allergen-free preparationsAbility to stand for long shifts in a hot kitchen and move quickly between stationsStrong problem-solving skills to manage order timing and fix mistakes on the flyCommitment to a team-first environment, helping both the front and back of house succeedFluency in EnglishDriver's license and reliable transportationDesire and ability to be cross-trained in other areas of the restaurantPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Ability to stand for long periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs.Comfortable working in outdoor environments and small kitchen spacesWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:Dependable and punctualSelf-motivated and able to problem-solve on the flyTeam-oriented with a positive attitudeSomeone who takes pride in maintaining cleanliness, quality, and guest experienceBrown Iron Brewhouse is a community house where great American beer is celebrated with outstanding smokehouse cuisineNamed “Best Beer Bar 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020 in Michigan” by CraftBeer.com, Brown Iron is a beer-centric smokehouse.
