As a Youth Development Professional, you will help create an engaging, safe, and positive Club experience for our members. Responsibilities include:

Supervision & Safety

Keeping our members safe is one of the most important parts of this position. YDPs are expected to:

  • Actively supervise youth throughout the program day.
  • Inspect program areas and identify potential safety concerns before youth enter the space.
  • Follow all Club safety policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Maintain appropriate staff-to-youth supervision.
  • Participate in required staff meetings, training, and professional development.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Assist with or participate in Club special events.
  • Communicate professionally with youth, families, coworkers, supervisors, schools, volunteers, and community members.
  • Represent the Boys & Girls Club professionally in the workplace and community.
  • Complete other job-related responsibilities as assigned.

  • Ability to motivate youth and keep them engaged in activities.
  • Ability to manage groups and respond appropriately to challenging behaviors.
  • Ability to be consistent while encouraging honesty, responsibility, fairness, sportsmanship, and respect.
  • Ability to organize and safely supervise groups of youth.
  • Ability to plan and implement quality activities and programs.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt in an environment where things can change quickly.
