What You'll Do
As a Youth Development Professional, you will:
- Build positive and supportive relationships with youth.

- Encourage youth participation and help make Club a place kids want to be.
- Provide guidance, encouragement, and positive role modeling.
- Maintain a safe environment through clear and consistent expectations.
- Supervise youth during structured and unstructured activities.
- Prepare materials and program spaces for daily activities.
- Work collaboratively with other staff to provide a high-quality experience for youth.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development.
- Assist with special events and other Club activities as needed.
- Communicate professionally with youth, families, coworkers, schools, and community partners.

- Has a high school diploma or GED. College coursework or a degree in education, recreation, human services, youth development, or a related field is a plus.
- Enjoys working with children and teens.

- Can be a positive role model and build strong relationships with young people.
- Can manage groups, redirect behavior appropriately, and keep youth engaged.
- Is dependable, responsible, and able to work as part of a team.
- Can be flexible and adapt to a fast-moving afterschool environment.
- Can promote honesty, responsibility, fairness, sportsmanship, and respect.
- Can plan and lead safe, age-appropriate activities.
- Is willing to complete required training and professional development.
Pay & Professional Growth
Starting pay is $16.50 per hour.
Relevant education and experience may qualify you for a higher starting wage. Previous experience working with youth, education, childcare, recreation, coaching, camps, afterschool programs, or similar settings will be considered when determining starting pay.
We value employees who want to grow. Team members have opportunities to participate in training, develop their skills, take on additional responsibilities, and pursue future leadership opportunities within the Boys & Girls Club.
