What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vector Control Program Specialist position at Boulder County?
Boulder County Public Health Department is seeking to hire a Vector Control Program Specialist. Under minimal supervision, this position performs a variety of duties to help prevent the spread of disease and mitigate health risks to the public from various vector species.
This is an hourly, non-benefited position that will work 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. This position will work out of 3450 Broadway St., Boulder, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is non-exempt (eligible for overtime).
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $25.00 - $27.14 Hourly

Enforces federal, state, and local regulations and ordinances related to disease prevention from vector species; works closely with lead staff in selecting appropriate methods and procedures to use in resolving specific problems Performs routine investigations of public vector complaints; may perform other investigations as assigned by supervisor Reviews and updates assigned file records to ensure accuracy and completeness; prepares a variety of reports, correspondence, and articles for official use and public information Responds to incidents that may result in exposure to disease, epidemiological investigations related to vector borne diseases - Performs related work, as required

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- GIS experience
- 1 (one) year of professional experience in environmental health or health education
- College courses in public health or epidemiology, or recent graduate with a public health degree
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
- Disease investigation and interviewing
- Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to establish and maintain strong and effective working relationships with coworkers, partners, clients, outside agencies, and the public
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Ability to perform moderately complex problem-solving operations
- Ability to keep accurate records
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and using databases
