Boulder City Hospital is an 82-bed facility with a 47-bed long-term care unit and a 10-bed Geriatric Behavioral Medicine Center, committed to providing quality healthcare services to our community.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision and direction of the Boulder City Primary Care Medical Officer and the Primary Clinic ED Nursing Director, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) interviews and examines patients to diagnose illnesses and injuries. The NP orders diagnostic tests, prescribes medications, and recommends lifestyle changes to treat both short-term and long-term patient care needs. The NP serves as a resource for staff and students on patient management strategies and participates in clinic and affiliated committees and educational activities. The NP also helps establish and maintain policies, procedures, and protocols for the Primary Care Clinic.
Essential Functions:
Work effectively under sustained pressure and stressful situations
Provide direct patient care through assessment, examination, and treatment planning
Stand or walk for up to 12 hours and assist with lifting or moving patients
Oversee the rural health care continuum of care within the clinic
Duties and Responsibilities:
Collaborate with physicians to identify patient care issues, recommend options, and implement directives
Assess patient health via interviews, physical exams, and medical history reviews
Order and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., x-rays, EKGs, lab studies) to determine abnormal conditions
Document patient care in charts and department records
Perform therapeutic procedures including injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound management
Counsel patients on treatment plans, growth and development, family planning, emotional health, and wellness promotion
Develop and implement patient management plans to ensure continuity of care
Refer patients to services outside the clinic when necessary
Maintain a safe, clean working environment adhering to infection control and safety protocols
Stay compliant with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, advising management on legislative changes
Maintain professional growth through workshops, publications, networks, and professional society participation
Support staff development through education and experiential opportunities
Contribute to team goals and results as required
Maintain credentials in good standing and comply with hospital credentialing requirements
Participate in developing, executing, and reviewing clinic policies and procedures
Work Environment:
The Nurse Practitioner must be capable of standing or walking for up to 12 hours and physically assisting patients when needed.
