Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Department Manager, Physician, and/or Mid-level Provider, the Medical Assistant supports front and back office operations and clinical workflows based on the needs of the practice and daily patient flow. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examination and procedures, sterilizing reusable instruments, and ensuring compliance with OSHA and state regulations. This role also assists with front desk tasks such as coordinating and completing patient intake paperwork to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Essential Functions:
Verify patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the reason for the visit
Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary physical assessments such as taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature
Administer injections and medications as directed by the physician
Support front desk activities as needed to facilitate patient intake and scheduling
Participate actively in quality improvement initiatives and support clinical practice teams
Ability to stand or walk for up to 12 hours and assist in lifting and moving patients
Education and Experience Required:
High School diploma or GED
Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program
Minimum of two years’ experience preferred in family medicine or pediatric clinic settings
CMA or RMA certification strongly preferred
Licensed through the Division of Public and Behavioral Health as an Office Laboratory Assistant
