Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive engineering organization, is seeking a skilled Vehicle Dynamics Engineer. This role is responsible for vehicle dynamics and stability control calibration, hands-on proving-ground testing, and brake system performance development for vehicle programs. The engineer will evaluate vehicle behavior, optimize controls, analyze test data, and support validation activities across a variety of driving conditions.
Job Duties
- Plan and execute vehicle dynamics, stability control, and brake system development and validation testing
- Perform hands-on proving-ground and on-road vehicle testing, including high-speed dynamic maneuvers
- Calibrate and tune stability control and brake control systems to meet objective vehicle performance targets
- Evaluate vehicle handling characteristics, including oversteer, vehicle limits, stability control intervention, braking feel, responsiveness, and consistency
- Collect and analyze vehicle test data to identify performance and calibration anomalies
- Troubleshoot vehicle dynamics and controls issues through root cause analysis, calibration adjustments, and validation testing
- Manage calibration data through verification, version control, iteration, and production release processes
- Conduct competitive vehicle benchmarking, robustness testing, and performance comparisons to support continued system optimization
Required
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- Hands-on knowledge of vehicle dynamics, vehicle stability control, electronic stability control (ESC), or related vehicle control systems
- Experience or demonstrated technical knowledge involving vehicle calibration, tuning, brake controls, or dynamic vehicle testing
- Understanding of vehicle behavior at or near handling limits, including oversteer and stability control intervention
- Proficiency performing vehicle road or proving-ground testing and dynamic maneuvers
- Ability to collect, process, and analyze vehicle test and calibration data
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word for data processing, technical reporting, and documentation
- Valid driving capability appropriate for hands-on vehicle development and testing activities
- 1 years of hands-on vehicle dynamics, stability control, brake calibration, or automotive road-testing experience
- Experience calibrating or tuning electronic stability control, vehicle dynamics control, or brake control systems
- Experience with automotive data acquisition and calibration tools such as CANape, ATI Vision, or comparable platforms
- Knowledge of brake control algorithms and automotive calibration methodologies
- Experience with high-speed vehicle maneuvers and proving-ground testing
- MATLAB and Simulink experience, including the ability to interpret models for troubleshooting and debugging
- Familiarity with North American vehicle development processes and applicable automotive technical standards
- Relevant vehicle dynamics experience within passenger vehicle, off-road, heavy vehicle, or vehicle-focused defense applications
