Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with a manufacturing organization, is seeking a skilled Sr. Training Instructor – Controls & Automation. This role is responsible for developing and delivering technical training for automated manufacturing systems, creating hands-on learning environments, and building technician capability across controls, robotics, and industrial automation technologies.
Job Duties
- Deliver classroom, simulation lab, and hands-on instruction in mechatronics, controls, and industrial automation
- Develop and maintain technical coursework for PLC programming, SCADA, HMI, robotics, and related automation platforms
- Create robotics training modules covering path programming, controller configuration, and structured lab exercises
- Design and build simulated PLC racks, training fixtures, and dedicated automation training cells
- Develop standardized instructional materials and technical work instructions for internal training programs
- Train internal facilitators on adult learning methodologies and structured technical instruction
- Deliver instruction covering industrial electrical standards, equipment safeguarding, OSHA requirements, and applicable NFPA guidelines
- Incorporate emerging automation technologies such as machine vision, autonomous systems, and advanced robotics into training curricular
Skills & Experience
Required
- BS or AAS degree in a related technical field, Automation/Mechatronics certificate, registered apprenticeship completion, or equivalent technical experience
- 5 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or industrial automation disciplines
- Technical training, technical instruction, or adult education experience within an industrial environment
- Hands-on PLC programming experience with Rockwell Automation and/or Beckhoff platforms
- Experience operating and programming industrial robotic controllers such as FANUC, KUKA, or Kawasaki
- Working knowledge of industrial automation, electrical controls, and automated manufacturing systems
- Knowledge of industrial safety requirements, electrical standards, OSHA regulations, and applicable NFPA standards
Desired
- Experience with Ignition SCADA and industrial HMI platforms
- Experience with ePLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, or comparable electrical design software
- Knowledge of EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT, IO-Link, Profinet, or similar industrial communication protocols
- Experience developing PLC, robotics, or mechatronics simulation labs and training equipment
- SACA, NC3, or comparable industry-recognized technical certifications
- Experience developing apprenticeship or accredited technical training curricula
- Knowledge of machine vision, autonomous systems, or advanced robotics technologies
- Experience developing Standardized Work Instructions or structured technical training documentation
