Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with one of our clients, is seeking a skilled Employee & Labor Relations (ER/LR) Specialist. This role is responsible for managing employee and labor relations strategies within a manufacturing facility, supporting union avoidance efforts, and preparing for potential union negotiations.

Job Duties

• Serve as the primary ER/LR advisor for a high-volume manufacturing site, supporting approximately 800 employees
• Lead efforts to maintain a union-free environment, including employee engagement and union avoidance strategies
• Manage investigations into employee complaints and workplace concerns with discretion
• Support collective bargaining preparations and, if necessary, participate in union negotiations
• Collaborate with plant leadership and HR to develop and implement employee relations policies
• Provide training and guidance to management on labor law compliance and union avoidance techniques
• Maintain accurate case files, grievance records, and statistical reports related to labor and employee relations
• Represent the company at external forums and support employee relations initiatives at the site

Skills & Experience

Required

• 5 years of senior ER/LR experience within a manufacturing setting
• Proven track record working with unionized and non-union environments
• Strong knowledge of labor laws and negotiation processes
• Experience with union avoidance and proactive employee engagement strategies
• Ability to travel domestically and respond quickly to labor-related issues
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
• Familiarity with HR systems such as ADP (preferred, not required)

Desired

• Union negotiation and bargaining experience
• Certification in HR or labor relations (e.g., PHR, SPHR)
• Knowledge of automotive or industrial manufacturing industries
• Fluency in additional languages is a plus, but not required
• Strong computer skills with general familiarity of relevant HR tools
