Blue Chip Talent, in partnership with an automotive and advanced engineering organization, is seeking a skilled Assembly Technician. This role is responsible for assembling prototype vehicles and mechanical systems, supporting prototype build schedules, and identifying opportunities to improve assembly processes and designs.
No C2C or 3rd Party vendors allowed for this role.
Job Duties
- Assemble prototype vehicles, components, and mechanical systems according to engineering requirements
- Perform heavy mechanical assembly of chassis, drivetrain, powertrain, and other major vehicle systems
- Follow established safety procedures throughout assembly and shop operations
- Support prototype builds while meeting project schedule, quality, and budget requirements
- Provide feedback on design, manufacturability, and assembly process improvements
- Operate material-handling and shop equipment as required
- Perform basic fabrication, surface preparation, and finishing activities as needed
Skills & Experience
Required
- 5 years of experience in prototype component assembly, vehicle assembly, or related heavy mechanical assembly
- Experience assembling major vehicle systems such as chassis, drivetrain, powertrain, suspension, and mechanical components
- Diesel engine mechanic and/or heavy vehicle assembly experience
- Experience using standard mechanical assembly tools and shop equipment
- Ability to meet required background screening, employment verification, reference check, and controlled-substance testing requirements
Desired
- Welding certification and experience welding steel and aluminum
- Relevant mechanic certification or license
- Forklift and crane operation experience with applicable certifications
- Experience operating basic machine shop equipment
- Material surface preparation and spray-painting experience
- Experience operating heavy or specialty vehicles
