Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Psychologist to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in child and family counseling, crisis intervention, and special education. This role involves working closely with students, families, and school staff to support the mental health and educational needs of students, particularly those with developmental disabilities and autism. The School Psychologist will conduct assessments, develop safety plans, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) to foster a positive learning environment.
Duties
- Conduct psychological assessments and diagnostic evaluations to identify student needs.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to develop IEPs for students with disabilities.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies and manage crisis situations effectively.
- Develop and monitor behavior management plans tailored to individual student needs.
- Participate in early intervention programs for at-risk students.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and records in compliance with school policies.
- Engage in conflict management strategies to resolve issues among students or between students and staff.
- Provide training and support for school staff on behavioral health topics and best practices in school psychology.
- Conduct psychological testing as needed to inform interventions and support services.
Requirements
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or related field.
- Valid state certification or licensure as a School Psychologist.
- Experience working with children, particularly those with developmental disabilities or autism.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and applicable medical terminology.
- Proficiency in crisis management techniques and conflict resolution strategies.
- Familiarity with applied behavior analysis (ABA) principles is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with students, families, and educational staff.
- Ability to develop safety plans that address the unique needs of each student.
- Experience in case management within an educational setting is advantageous.
