This part-time nursing opportunity is based in Somerville, MA, supporting a young student in a school setting. The role is open to both Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with active Massachusetts licensure and school-based nursing experience. Candidates will provide specialized care for a 3-year-old student who uses a tracheostomy and ventilator when ill. The position requires riding with the student on a van before and after school, providing continuity of care throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide nursing care to a preschool-aged student with complex medical needs, including tracheostomy and ventilator management
- Monitor and support the student's health during school hours and transportation on the van before and after school
- Collaborate with school staff and family to ensure a safe and supportive environment
- Complete all necessary health and safety documentation in compliance with school policy
- Participate in mandatory background checks (CORI and fingerprinting)
- Communicate effectively through Zoom interviews and ongoing coordination
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current and active RN or LPN license in Massachusetts
- Prior experience in school nursing or similar school-based healthcare settings
- Ability to manage specialized medical equipment and emergency procedures
- Availability to work onsite on Mondays and Fridays
- Willingness to participate in summer work and school year renewal options
