POSITION SUMMARY:  Line Cook I is responsible for preparing all menu items to specified standards while addressing customer’s needs and requests.  They are required to adhere to all cleanliness and safety standards, can set up and breakdown the line, maintain assigned daily prep levels, and can assist in food functions/parties and events.  Line cooks must be able to effectively carry out instructions by supervisors.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

• Prepares all menu items to specified standards while addressing customer’s needs.

• Adheres to all safety and cleanliness standards of OSHA, and other established government guidelines.

• Follows and completes all checklist and other daily tasks.

• Stocks all stations and cooks line to specified levels for maximum production.

• Clean station and equipment daily to maintain sanitation standards.

• Ability to stand for longer than 8 hours.

• Ability to lift forty pounds (40 lb.).

• Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum six (6) months cooking experience preferred.
• Ability to operate all cooking equipment i.e. steamer, slicer, buffalo chopper, broiler, salamander etc.
• Must be able to perform short order cooking of burgers, steaks, sandwiches, fries etc.
• Knowledge of sautéing, broiling, steaming, and baking is preferred.
• Must have a professional and friendly attitude towards customers and coworkers.
• Must be efficient, organized, and have healthy work habits.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Must provide or obtain a Food Handlers certification upon hire and maintain during employment. 

COMPUTER OPERATIONS

• Basic personal computer skills.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
• Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
• Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.

This is not a smoke free workplace. Although we employ state of the art filtration systems, cigarette smoke is in the work environment. Employee smoking is only permitted in designated areas during working hours.
