POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for the direction and management of the following operations: Marketing, Special Events, Promotions, and Player Development. Responsible for achieving revenue, income, market share, and guest service objectives in accordance with Bear River policy and Gaming Commission Regulations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Creates and atmosphere that induces guests to make Bear River Casino Resort their choice of gaming entertainment.
- Responsible for actively building and retaining guest relations and acts as a mentor to team members to provide superior guest services.
- Hires, motivates, evaluates and directs department staff, ensuring team members receive the training, support, adequate guidance and necessary resources to accomplish established objectives.
- Establishes operating department standards, guidelines and objectives. Maintains other administrative processes such as budget and staffing to ensure proper planning, efficient and effective operation of assigned areas.
- Directs long and short term planning for all functions of the marketing departments including analysis of product and market opportunities, program effectiveness, and development of strategies to ensure adequate level of guest satisfaction and achievement of established market share goals.
- Oversees and develops all property promotions and special events to promote the property and its activities and maintain consistency with corporate marketing policy, strategies, and goals.
- Implements and evaluates comp policies, campaigns, programs, entertainment activities and all other marketing expenditures to ensure program effectiveness; implements improvements based upon performance.
- Attend and participate in off property functions and events as assigned.
- Attend and participate in meetings, completing follow-up a assigned.
- Responsible for tasking and utilization of marketing staff to ensure timeliness of projects and completion of goals assigned by General Manager.
- Oversee all aspects of creative artwork designed for use on behalf of the property.
- Develop marketing plans and coordinating budgets for the property.
- Maintain monthly marketing, database, working closely with finance department.
- Develop and maintain the guest database and create programs to maximize guest retention and develop guest’s participation in various gaming activities and programs.
- Responsible for department scheduling and staffing needs.
- Leads by example, exudes positivity, works well in a team setting in high pressure situations, inclusive of team members, highest level of communication and organization.
- Other duties may be assigned.
AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Authority over operation of Marketing Department and over relations with marketing vendors and suppliers. Principle liaison with media representatives and community.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combination of education and experience (Equivalent = two (2) year’s direct related experience to one (1) year of education) may be substituted for educational degree.
Level I –
- Bachelor’s Degree; with an emphasis in Marketing preferred.
- Experience with databases, demographics and production required.
- Advertising experience/knowledge required (agency experience preferred). Print knowledge helpful.
- Must have at least one (1) years marketing experience in Casino field.
- Must have at least two (2) years direct management and supervisory experience in a professional business setting.
Level II -
- Bachelor’s Degree; with an emphasis in Marketing preferred.
- Experience with databases, demographics and production required.
- Advertising experience/knowledge required (agency experience preferred). Print knowledge helpful.
- Must have at least three (3) years marketing experience in Casino field.
- Must have at least three (3) years direct management and supervisory experience in a professional business setting.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS:
Level I -
- Proficient personal computer skills including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
- Ability to learn new systems and an aptitude for picking up on systems.
- Knowledge of and ability to work in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
- Ability to create graphic designs with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator or like program.
Level II – In addition to Level I, must also have:
- Three (3) years with a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system
- Three (3) years of graphic design experience with Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator or like program.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and or boards or directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
