POSITION SUMMARY: Under direction of the Director of Facilities, Facilities Grounds (Outside Maintenance) will individually or as a member of a crew, perform a wide variety of skilled/unskilled landscaping and grounds maintenance functions and semi-skilled preventive maintenance and repair work around the Casino, parking areas, Hotel and Convenience Store/Fueling Station.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Assist in promoting brand loyalty by engaging in exceptional customer service to both our external and internal customers.
- Cleans trash/debris from around the Casino, Parking areas, Hotel and convenience store/fueling station.
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all lawns, shrubbery and trees for the property.
- General Landscaping of planted areas.
- Maintains cleanliness of all public areas.
- Paints exterior areas of property as needed.
- Removal of combustible materials (dead grass/weeds) that present a fire hazard.
- Conducts general housekeeping duties.
- Operate powered equipment such as pressure washer, bonnets, scissor lift, weed eater, lawn mower, edger, etc.
- Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saw, hedge and brush trimmers and axes
- Pressure wash driveways, walkways, and walls.
- Exterior painting as needed.
- Keeps all chemicals in assigned areas with proper labeling (SDS).
- Other duties may be assigned.
AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory authority.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must be 18 years of age
- Experience in landscaping or outside maintenance, preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance.
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
- Basic personal computer skills.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with American Indian people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
- Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Casino Resort.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
- Must be able to work all shifts, weekends, holidays & special events as needed.
- Ability to operate all tools powered and unpowered safely with proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
