Procurement Buyer

Position Overview

This role is a critical backfill for a senior-level individual contributor within the procurement team. The Procurement Buyer will play a key role in driving SAP expertise, supporting strategic sourcing initiatives, and enhancing procurement data visibility and reporting. This position is not purely transactional and will provide meaningful strategic exposure.

Essential Job Functions

• Support strategic sourcing initiatives including RFP development, vendor evaluation, and contract negotiations
• Create and manage purchase orders while tracking supplier performance and delivery timelines (~20%)
• Serve as a key point of contact for supplier communication and relationship management (~20%)
• Maintain and improve procurement data integrity through SAP reporting and analytics (~60%)
• Utilize SAP S/4HANA to manage procurement workflows, reporting, and data structures
• Develop and analyze procurement reports using SAP and advanced Excel tools
• Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, automation, and visibility
• Partner cross-functionally with finance, operations, and supply chain teams
• Support both direct and indirect procurement activities across multiple categories
• Contribute to process improvements and evolving procurement team structure
  

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree required
* Minimum of two (2) years of procurement, supply chain, or finance-related experience
* Strong experience within ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred)
* Advanced Excel proficiency, including data analysis and reporting
* Demonstrated understanding of procurement processes (direct and/or indirect)
* Experience managing multiple priorities and working independently
* Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative mindset

Preferred Qualifications
* 3-10 years of procurement experience (flexible based on SAP expertise)
* Experience within a food/CPG or manufacturing environment strongly preferred
* Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA Purchasing module
* Experience creating RFPs, sourcing vendors, and negotiating contracts
* Exposure to CapEx procurement or raw material sourcing
* Familiarity with procurement trends, contract terms, and supplier agreements
* Intermediate to advanced Excel capabilities and reporting experience
* Ability to travel locally between office and plant locations, with occasional domestic or global travel
