About The Role
- Design and model precision components, subassemblies, and full assemblies using SolidWorks in accordance with Barrett standards.
- Develop detailed drawing packages and engineering documentation, revising models as needed through the Engineering Change Order process.
- Apply advanced simulation techniques to optimize design performance, reduce prototyping costs, and accelerate development timelines.
- Perform engineering analysis using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing to ensure proper fit, function, and manufacturability.
- Lead the coordination and procurement of prototype parts, including hands-on testing of assemblies and complete systems.
- Collaborate with Engineering team to develop Process Sequence Sheets and Part Validations to guide prototyping through internal and external manufacturing workflows.
- Support Quality Assurance by contributing to prototype inspection standards and test planning.
- Evaluate vendors, develop cost quotes, and work closely with internal teams to ensure timely delivery and quality of materials.
- Stay current with trends in long-distance precision firearms, conduct competitive analysis, and contribute to future-forward research and development initiatives.
- Coordinates or leads the testing of prototype ammunition and loadings for precision, functionality, velocity, and pressure as required.
- Actively participate in the shooting sports to maintain a practical understanding of the systems we make and the competition.
- Available to be a Barrett representative at industry trade shows and/or shooting events as required.

- Firearms, ammunition and accessories development experience with an emphasis in precision long range rifles desired.
- Possess a strong engineering discipline with a mastery of modern design techniques, simulation analysis, modern materials, and an understanding of advanced manufacturing techniques.
- High level of firearms history knowledge and familiarity with complex design features related to firearms.
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and work on multiple projects at once, while maintaining organization.
- BS in Engineering
- MINIMUM of 2 years of related experience in the firearms industry REQUIRED.
- Other equivalent education and relevant operating experience in product design may be considered.
- Some travel may be required to attend industry trade shows and/or shooting events.
