Responsibilities:
- Own the mechanical design process for a variety of consumer and B2B hardware products.
- Create clean, production-ready CAD models, drawings, and perform detailed tolerance analyses.
- Develop creative and practical solutions to complex mechanical and system-level challenges.
- Collaborate with industrial design, electrical, research, and UX teams to ensure holistic product development.
- Guide suppliers through DFM (Design for Manufacturing) reviews, tooling, and production builds.
- Support EVT/DVT/PVT builds, addressing and resolving manufacturing challenges as they arise.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate designs using 3D printing, machining, and other hands-on tools.
- Specify materials and manufacturing processes that align with product goals and constraints.
Must-Have Skills:
- 6 years of experience in mechanical design engineering for consumer, medical, or B2B hardware products.
- Proven expertise in plastic part design, PCBA integration, and enclosure development.
- Demonstrated track record of taking products through EVT/DVT/PVT stages successfully.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
- Strong portfolio showcasing CAD screenshots, finished product photos, and detailed DFM/DFA case studies.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Experience working in a product design studio or consultancy, managing multiple clients and timelines.
- Hands-on prototyping experience, with a strong understanding of shop tools and 3D printing.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate design decisions and incorporate feedback effectively.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as injection molding and tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Passion for working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
