What are the responsibilities and job description for the SAP PP/MM Production Controller position at Baltimore Aircoil Company - USA?
Step into the hub of manufacturing flow
As our SAP PP/MM Production Controller, you own the journey of every production order—from release to goods receipt. You’ll safeguard BOM integrity, keep SAP pristine, and orchestrate the flow across planning, procurement, production, quality, maintenance, and logistics. Your goal is simple and bold: achieve OTIF (On-Time, In-Full) delivery while meeting cost and compliance targets.
A day in your week
Picture this: you start by sequencing the day’s orders by line and cell against a frozen schedule and capacity constraints. You convert and stage process orders in SAP, validate BOMs and routings, and align with planning on any reschedules or expedites flagged by MRP exception messages. Midday, you’re clearing blockers—shortages, NC materials, machine downtime—by looping in Purchasing, Warehouse, Production Supervisors, Quality, Engineering, and Maintenance. You close the week by publishing KPIs (OTIF, WIP, yield, scrap, takt adherence, labor efficiency, lead time) and leading a kaizen or A3 to attack root causes.
What you’ll drive
-
SAP & Master Data Control
- Convert/stage production orders (PP/MM) with accurate confirmations, backflushing, and variance capture.
- Validate BOMs and routings (work centers, standard times, scrap factors); initiate fixes via master data governance.
- Act on MRP signals and exception messages; coordinate reschedules, expedites, and shortage responses with planning.
- Reconcile material, labor, and overhead settlement variances with Finance and lead corrective actions.
- Maintain disciplined transactions for goods issues, receipts, and WIP.
-
End-to-End Order Management
- Sequence and dispatch orders by ATP, frozen schedule, and capacity.
- Remove blockers across functions (shortages, NC material, equipment downtime).
- Drive schedule adherence, takt attainment, and plan-based changeovers.
- Control hold, rework, and deviation orders with full documentation and traceability.
-
BOM Verification & Change Control
- Run pre-release BOM audits (components, alternates, substitutions) and validate effectivity/ECO-ECN incorporation.
- Keep revision control aligned across BOMs, routings, and records in partnership with Engineering.
- Lead cycle checks on critical/high-value BOMs; investigate yield losses and scrap trends.
-
Materials & Inventory Coordination
- Confirm availability (MRP stock, open POs, transfer orders) pre-release; prevent partial kits unless approved.
- Ensure complete kitting, accurate backflushing, and robust batch/lot tracking.
- Support cycle counts and root-cause inventory adjustments.
-
Quality & Compliance
- Apply correct inspection plans, sampling, and inspection points to orders.
- Manage upstream queries for timely closure.
- Enforce documentation standards: batch records, travelers, labels, and traceability/serialization.
- Support audits and uphold regulatory compliance.
-
Performance & Continuous Improvement
- Publish daily/weekly KPIs: OTIF, schedule adherence, WIP, yield, scrap, rework hours, labor efficiency, lead time.
- Lead/assist kaizen and A3 to cut delays, reduce WIP, and improve right-first-time.
- Standardize work and deploy visual controls for order flow, kitting, and deviation management.
