This is an hourly, shop-floor leadership role directing Assembly team members to achieve daily throughput and deliver on longer-term projects defined by the Team Leader. Your impact
- Create a zero-compromise safety culture; enforce rules and PPE use at all times.
- Drive continuous improvement, LEAN thinking, and 5S excellence.
- Flex and allocate manpower to keep the line balanced and on schedule.
- Serve as back-up to the Team Lead and run the area when needed.
- Delegate based on skills and accountabilities; keep communication open and timely.
- Master current Assembly methods and equipment; uphold and follow Shift Leader Standard Work.
- Set objectives with the Team Leader and deliver quarterly feedback.
- Partner with Sheet Metal, BBD, and others to secure materials and protect the build plan.
- Operate jib/overhead cranes safely to lift, move, and position components.
- Support annual reviews; complete detailed accident investigations when incidents occur.
- Train for technical proficiency; maintain the department skills matrix.
- Onboard new hires, pair Buddies & Mentors, and conduct weekly check-ins.
- Meet or exceed shift production goals while maintaining process discipline and quality.
- Lead Toolbox and other communication huddles; provide coverage on alternative shifts as required.
- Counsel and coach when safety, quality, or productivity standards are not met.
- Champion sustainability by proactively reducing waste, energy, and water use.
- Convert original ideas into process, systems, or service improvements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Where you fit in the organization
Reporting to the department Team Leader or Supervisor, you are part of the leadership team with shared accountability for department goals. In the Team Leader’s absence, you’re responsible for running the department. Expect to participate on cross-functional and regional teams.
What you bring
- Supervisory/management capability: lead, delegate, follow up; build high-performing teams; develop senior mechanics into mentors and influencers.
- Independent decision-making with sound judgment; agility in responding to changing schedules.
- Extensive product knowledge of BAC models and parts.
- Excellent English communication: documented processes and clear, professional emails/memos; technically accurate verbal communication with customers and co-workers.
- Knowledge of plant IPI processes and the CAP program.
- Training/certification to operate overhead and JIB cranes.
- Confidence leading meetings and delivering presentations.
- Problem-solving strength with Continuous Improvement tools.
- Systems fluency: Word, Excel, Peoplesoft, Internet, and ADI; intermediate Excel (update data and produce metrics).
- LEAN fluency: 5S, Gemba walks, and identification of the 7 wastes.
- Command of procedures, policies, and ISO instructions to ensure product quality.
- Comfort engaging engineers—provide technical details and create engineering change requests.

Employee will also be required to bend, stoop, kneel, squat, sit and reach on a regular basis during a normal working shift This position requires frequent lifting up to 50 pounds. Exposures include elevated noise levels associated with a manufacturing environment, fluctuations in temperature ambient conditions as well as intermittent exposure to the weather in and about the yard and dock areas. Occasional weekend work is typical, and availability is expected for any of the three operating shifts.
