What are the responsibilities and job description for the Logistics Specialist position at BackStretch?
Our client, a leading provider of transportation solutions, has partnered with BackStretch to find their next Logistics Specialist.
About the company
Our client brings together massive carrier capacity, cutting-edge technology, and industry-leading logistics expertise. They create more efficient ways for shippers and carriers to move freight across North America, and they're looking for sharp, energetic people to help them do it.
The role
The LTL team is expanding its sales coverage, and this Logistics Specialist role exists to meet that bandwidth. As the team grows its support threshold, more sellers will have access to dedicated operational backup, and you'll be a key part of making that work.
You'll work alongside a broad cross-section of the sales team, supporting their accounts with precision and pace. This role is ever-changing by design. You'll need to be comfortable owning your piece of the operation independently while staying tightly connected to the team around you.
This is not a passive role. When things move, you move with them.
What you'll do on a typical day
- Support the sales team across a wide range of accounts, adjusting priorities as the day demands it
- Communicate professionally with sellers, carriers, drivers, and customers, calibrating your tone and approach to your audience
- Manage load entry, tracking, reporting, and account activity within internal systems
- Take ownership of your accounts and work to continuously improve your speed and accuracy, including how quickly you can build out a load
- Work both collaboratively with teammates and autonomously when the situation calls for it
What you need to succeed
At a minimum, you'll need:
- Strong written communication skills: your emails and internal messages to the sales team, carriers, and customers need to be concise, professional, and audience-appropriate
- The ability to prioritize and focus on multiple things simultaneously without losing accuracy
- Attention to detail, especially under volume and pressure
- A self-starter mentality: the team is collaborative, but there will be times you need to operate independently without being hand-held
- The ability to communicate confidently across a range of personalities, including drivers who operate very differently from your internal counterparts
Nice to have
- Experience at a brokerage or in supply chain (strong asset)
- A background in business administration or another field that required prioritizing tasks and managing competing demands
- A track record that demonstrates grit
