Payroll Specialist – Hoboken, NJ
A growing global transportation and logistics company is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its collaborative HR team in a temp-to-perm opportunity with strong long-term growth potential. This role will support full-cycle payroll operations for a multi-state workforce of 750 employees and offers the opportunity to grow into a Payroll Manager position over time.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a team-oriented, hands-on environment and has experience with high-volume payroll processing and ADP Workforce Now.
Position Details
- Location: Hoboken, NJ
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
- Salary: $60K–$65K
Responsibilities:
- Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time
- Maintain payroll records, employee deductions, garnishments, and direct deposits
- Reconcile payroll and support accounting/GL functions
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Generate payroll and HR-related reports using ADP and Excel
- Support onboarding/offboarding and payroll setup for new hires and terminations
- Assist employees with payroll, benefits, and timekeeping inquiries
- Partner with HR and management teams to resolve discrepancies and support operations
- Assist with audits, reporting, and payroll-related documentation
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of full-cycle payroll experience
- Experience with ADP Workforce Now strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of payroll compliance and tax regulations
- Advanced Excel skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support where needed
