Position Overview
The Fund Operations Associate plays a key role in managing accounting, reporting, and operational workflows across alternative investment vehicles, including hedge funds and private equity structures. This position focuses on accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and smooth execution of capital activity. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise and a solid understanding of complex investment structures within a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Calculate and reconcile Net Asset Value (NAV) for alternative investment funds.
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare financial statements on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis in line with US GAAP and fund governing documents.
- Record complex transactions for multiple private investment strategies.
- Review administrator-prepared reports and validate valuations and allocations.
- Manage capital calls, distributions, and investor allocations for private equity funds.
- Oversee cash activity, including wire transfers and liquidity planning.
- Coordinate with custodians, prime brokers, and administrators for trade settlement and reconciliation processes.
- Assist with onboarding new funds and investors, ensuring AML/KYC requirements are met.
- Prepare audit support packages and serve as a point of contact for external auditors.
- Uphold internal controls and comply with regulatory standards such as SEC, AIFMD, and FATCA.
- Maintain accurate documentation for compliance and investor-related reporting.
- Generate investor capital statements and fund performance reports.
- Provide operational and financial analysis to support investment-related decisions.
- Identify efficiency opportunities and support automation or process improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics; advanced credentials (CPA, CFA) preferred.
- 3 years of fund accounting experience within hedge funds, private equity, or fund administration.
- Strong knowledge of partnership accounting and alternative investment structures.
- Proficiency with fund accounting systems such as Advent Geneva, Black Diamond, or Orion.
- Strong analytical abilities with excellent organizational and communication skills.
