What are the responsibilities and job description for the Associate Attorney position at Ascendion?
Position Title: Corporate & Commercial Litigation Associate (Hybrid)
Location: Wilmington, DE (Hybrid Schedule)
Position Type: Full-time, Associate (2–10 years of experience)
About the Opportunity
Are you a sophisticated commercial litigation attorney looking to escape the rigid bureaucracy and grueling billable-hour metrics of big law firms, without sacrificing high-stakes, cutting-edge corporate work?
We are a premier, 10-attorney Delaware defense litigation boutique specializing in complex commercial, corporate, intellectual property, employment, and insurance coverage disputes. We frequently serve as Delaware counsel alongside major national law firms in high-stakes corporate and IP matters, offering deep, sophisticated experience before the Delaware Court of Chancery and other Delaware courts.
We are seeking a talented Litigation Associate with 2 to 10 years of experience to join our elite, lifestyle-oriented practice. Here, you will enjoy immediate, substantive responsibility, direct client contact, and a collaborative environment free from rigid micromanagement.
Why This Role is Different
- No Rigid Billable "Ethos": We don't live and die by a billable hour target. Our philosophy is that partners are responsible for keeping associates staffed. While workflow naturally fluctuates between busy and slower periods ("feast or famine"), our expectation is simply that associates work hard, stay responsive, and proactively collaborate.
- Predictable Workflow: Our culture is lifestyle-oriented. The general daily schedule tends to be around 9:00 AM – 5:30/6:00 PM.
- Professional Growth: Gain sophisticated corporate and commercial litigation experience within a highly respected boutique environment that offers more hands-on development than larger firms.
Salary and Other Compensation
The annual salary for this position is between $190,000 – $290,000. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
Our compensation philosophy leans toward stronger base salary increases rather than smaller raises supplemented primarily through bonuses, though a discretionary end-of-year bonus structure is typically distributed in December.
