Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor and record vital signs and patient observations to track health status
- Administer medications following care plans and HIPAA regulations
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to dietary needs and assist with meal planning and preparation
- Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, ensuring a safe environment
- Operate patient lifts such as Hoyer lifts safely to transfer residents with mobility challenges
- Maintain cleanliness of living areas through light cleaning duties to promote a hygienic environment
- Observe and report any changes in health or behavior to healthcare professionals or family members
- Follow prescribed care plans meticulously while respecting residents’ privacy and preferences
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities as needed
- Engage residents in social activities to promote mental stimulation and emotional well-being
Experience
Candidates should possess relevant experience in caregiving roles such as assisted living, home health, hospice care, or nursing homes. Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, dementia, or memory care is highly valued. Certifications such as First Aid, CPR, and HIPAA compliance are preferred. Experience with patient monitoring, medication administration, working with care plans, and managing vital signs is advantageous. A background in social work or long-term care can enhance a candidate’s ability to provide comprehensive support. Heavy lifting capabilities are necessary for assisting residents with mobility challenges. Knowledge of working with diverse populations including seniors, individuals with disabilities, or those requiring specialized memory care is essential for success in this role.
