Overview
We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to stabilize, clean up, and lead payroll operations following a recent system transition. This role will own payroll processing, tax compliance, benefits deductions, and reconciliations while partnering closely with HR, Benefits, and HRIS teams. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and experienced navigating complex payroll environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end payroll processing across bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll cycles
- Lead reconciliation and cleanup of payroll taxes, retirement contributions, and benefit deductions
- Ensure compliance with multi-state payroll, state registrations, local taxes, and withholding accounts
- Serve as the primary Paylocity payroll expert following the UKG → Paylocity migration
- Partner with HR and Benefits as a second set of eyes on payroll deductions and enrollments
- Support integrations with MetLife and TIAA and improve benefits reconciliation processes
- Reduce payroll errors and amendments by streamlining workflows and limiting handoffs
- Manage payroll audits, reporting, and documentation
- Support process improvements and payroll best practices as the organization scales
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of payroll management experience
- Strong experience with Paylocity (required)
- Multi-state payroll and tax compliance expertise
- Experience reconciling 401(k), retirement, and pre-tax benefit deductions
- Ability to work confidently with multiple financial institutions
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working in evolving environments
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
- Experience supporting payroll system implementations or cleanups
- Background partnering closely with HR, Benefits, and HRIS teams
