Senior Network Engineer
Position Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Network Engineer to take the lead in ensuring seamless connectivity and performance across a multi-site enterprise network environment. With hundreds of locations across North America, this role demands strong technical leadership in infrastructure support, routing/switching, and telephony. You’ll serve as the go-to escalation point for advanced issues, support network design efforts, and mentor junior engineers while working closely with vendors and internal teams to execute on critical projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and support wide-area connectivity across over 300 business locations
- Monitor network health using enterprise tools and resolve incidents involving routers, switches, wireless access points, and voice platforms
- Oversee implementation and upkeep of firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access systems
- Manage telecom and internet circuits across the enterprise, ensuring performance and cost efficiency
- Maintain and optimize a multi-vendor environment, including Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti, and related platforms
- Administer monitoring systems like SolarWinds, Cisco FMC/FTD, and other diagnostics tools
- Serve as Tier III escalation support, partnering with cross-functional teams for resolution
- Develop and maintain detailed diagrams and documentation of network systems
- Assist with rollout of infrastructure upgrades, including physical installations at key sites
- Participate in on-call rotations and respond to business-impacting outages as needed
- Mentor junior engineers and help standardize procedures across the team
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Networking, or equivalent experience
- Cisco CCNP or comparable certification
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking roles
- Strong knowledge of LAN/WAN environments and routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, etc.)
- Familiar with VPN, firewall technologies, wireless authentication (802.1x), and voice solutions (VoIP)
- Experience working with telecom vendors and circuit provisioning
- Competence with Visio or similar tools for creating network diagrams
- Solid understanding of ITIL-based change control processes
Preferred Skills
- Automation or scripting exposure (PowerShell, Bash)
- Experience with Puppet, Chef, or similar automation/configuration tools
- Hands-on experience in data center environments or structured cabling projects
- Familiarity with SolarWinds or equivalent NMS platforms
