Description
American Traveler is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist with strong neuro experience for a General OR position at a teaching hospital in a short-term acute care setting.
Details
- Main OR setting with cases spanning general surgery, orthopedics, neuro, ENT, vascular, plastics, gynecology, urology, and robotics
- Short-term acute care teaching hospital with 332 staffed beds
- Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (8:30–21:00)
- Epic EMR experience required
- On-call requirements will be discussed with the manager during the phone interview
- Weekend requirements will be discussed with the manager during the phone interview
- Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required, including to sister facilities
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
Requirements
- Minimum of 18 months of surgical technology experience required; 2 years preferred
- Strong neuro experience is required
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association required
- NBSTSA or NCCT national certification preferred
- License required if applicable
- 2 supervisor or manager-level references required for consideration
- Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
- Must pass a negative 10-panel drug screen including nicotine (cotinine) — this is a strictly smoke-free and nicotine-free facility
Additional Information
- Procedures include a broad range of vascular, ENT, general, gynecologic, neuro, orthopedic, robotic, thoracic, and urologic surgeries
- Proficiency in aseptic technique, laser safety, radiation safety, sharps safety, specimen handling, sterilization/disinfection, and Universal Protocol (time out) is expected
- Scrub color is ceil blue
- Orientation includes EKG and pharmacology testing, with a maximum of 2 attempts each and no remediation — travelers who fail will be cancelled; study materials are provided
- Pre-start modules are required and must be completed on a time-sensitive basis prior to the assignment start date; modules are non-billable and average 6–15 hours
- Parking is free in any unrestricted space
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront — requests added after submission will likely not be approved
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Candidates who have previously worked at a Cleveland Clinic location as permanent or per diem staff must have an end date of at least 1 year prior to being eligible
