We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable construction company based in Long Island City that specializes in commercial and residential projects throughout the New York area. They are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper with prior construction industry experience to support their accounting functions and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the company's accounting and project management functions. This role is ideal for a bookkeeping professional with prior experience in the construction industry who understands the unique financial requirements of construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger accounts
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Manage vendor payments and customer invoicing
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements
• Track project costs and job costing data
• Assist with payroll processing and certified payroll reporting
• Monitor subcontractor payments and lien waivers
• Prepare financial reports, budgets, and cash flow summaries
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
• Coordinate with external accountants and auditors as needed

Requirements:

• Minimum 3 years of bookkeeping experience
• Previous experience working within the construction industry is required
• Strong understanding of construction accounting and job costing
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
• Proficiency with QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of AIA billing, progress billing, and construction contracts is highly preferred
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
