Infrastructure Architect - Azure Platform & Delivery Architect

Akkodis is seeking an Azure Infrastructure Architect for a contract position with a client located in San Antonio, TX (but can be remote). This role is ideal for a senior architect with deep Azure, DevSecOps, and cloud-native engineering expertise who can lead platform strategy, secure delivery pipelines, and cloud modernization across IT and OT environments.

Pay Range: $63-$75/hour. Pay rate may be negotiable based upon experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Job Responsibilities Include

Architectural Leadership & Platform Strategy

• Own and guide architecture for Azure delivery platforms, CI/CD pipelines, environment provisioning, and shared infrastructure components.
• Define scalable, secure, and maintainable platform architectures aligned with enterprise DevSecOps, cloud, and security standards.
• Lead Azure migration strategies for legacy on‑prem environments using IaC and cloud‑native design patterns.
• Perform platform-level architectural assessments and develop modernization roadmaps for IT/OT infrastructure and deployment ecosystems.
• Ensure alignment with enterprise reference architectures, governance models, and security frameworks.
  
  

DevSecOps & Delivery Engineering Leadership

• Provide architectural oversight for CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, IaC, and full environment lifecycle management.
• Embed security and compliance controls directly into pipelines, championing shift-left security and automated guardrails.
• Partner closely with Cybersecurity and SecOps teams on toolchain alignment, vulnerability management, and compliance standards.
• Define and guide adoption of DevSecOps metrics and KPIs across delivery speed, quality, security posture, and operational performance.
• Advance DevSecOps maturity across engineering teams by improving automation, reliability, and deployment efficiency.
• Provide technical mentorship and guidance on DevSecOps practices, cloud architecture, automation standards, and platform engineering.
• Guide adoption of AI-driven automation to improve pipelines, deployments, monitoring, observability, and compliance validation.
• Evaluate and lead POCs for AI-enabled tools supporting operational analytics, remediation, configuration management, and system intelligence.
  
  

Qualifications

• Proven ability to influence engineering, platform, and security teams and drive architectural decision-making.
• Extensive experience architecting resilient Azure cloud solutions using App Services, Azure Functions, AKS, API Management, Service Bus, and other PaaS services.
• Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices, cloud security patterns, and software supply chain security.
• Proficiency in C#/.NET, Terraform and/or Bicep, SQL, and modern cloud-native development practices.
• Hands-on experience with distributed version control systems such as GitHub and GitLab, including automated CI/CD pipeline design and implementation.
