Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens
In this position you will serve as a senior labor attorney and legal advisor to commanders, directors, other management officials, and the Civilian Personnel Office on all issues arising from the employment of civil service and non-appropriated fund employees. You will represent the Department of the Air Force in third-party administrative and judicial proceedings concerning employment-related disputes.
Requirements
Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period. Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

Requirements
- U.S. Citizenship
- Obtain & maintain a Security clearance
- Employee is required to sign mobility agreement.
- Employee may be required to work overtime.
- Employee must adhere to the Air Force Rules of Professional Conduct.
- The employee may be required to travel on military and commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty
- You must have successfully completed a full course of study in a school of law accreditated by the American Bar Association (ABA) and have the first professional law degree (LLB or JD). In addition, at the time of application, you must provide proof, dated within four months of application of "active" status with a bar of the highest court of a State, U.S. Commonwealth, U.S. Territory, of the District of Columbia. Online information is allowed as long as it shows that you are in "active" status.
- You must have a knowledge of laws, regulations, precedents, and procedures related to Federal Government labor and employment law.
- You need to have the ability to recognize and appropriately handle issues of precedent-setting nature, delicacy, or importance to agency goals, national and international importance, or high public interest.
- You must possess skill in developing negotiation strategies and negotiating settlement agreements.
- You must possess skill in the presentation of and in opposition to evidence and arguments made in third party proceedings, with the skill in writing sound and persuasive opinions, memoranda, briefs, reports, plans, and pleadings.
