Responsibilities
- Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project scope and material requirements.
- Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects using estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools.
- Analyze material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes to establish comprehensive project budgets.
- Prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports that track costs, estimate revisions, and support project decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors to communicate estimates clearly and address any scope changes or value engineering opportunities.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate or similar tools.
- Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, construction drawing review, and interpreting technical drawings.
- Demonstrated ability in cost control, material cost estimating, and estimating construction project budgets.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for detailed analysis and reporting.
- Construction site experience coupled with a solid understanding of construction management processes and contracts.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure clarity on project scope and costs.
