Civil Project Estimator (Ground Up)

Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Civil Project Estimator to join our team and drive the success of our construction projects from the ground up. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications, and collaborating closely with clients, contractors, and suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and successful project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to accurately interpret project scope and material requirements.
• Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects using estimating software such as HeavyBid or equivalent tools.
• Analyze material costs, labor rates, equipment needs, and subcontractor quotes to establish comprehensive project budgets.
• Prepare detailed spreadsheets and reports that track costs, estimate revisions, and support project decision-making processes.
• Collaborate with project managers, clients, and contractors to communicate estimates clearly and address any scope changes or value engineering opportunities.

Requirements

• Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the commercial construction industry.
• Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Xactimate or similar tools.
• Extensive knowledge of blueprint reading, construction drawing review, and interpreting technical drawings.
• Demonstrated ability in cost control, material cost estimating, and estimating construction project budgets.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Excel spreadsheets for detailed analysis and reporting.
• Construction site experience coupled with a solid understanding of construction management processes and contracts.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and team members to ensure clarity on project scope and costs.
