Benefits and Payroll Administrator
Location: Onsite, Beverly, MA 01915
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Salary Range: $70,000–$75,000 annually
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Benefits and Payroll Administrator to support the accurate and timely administration of employee benefit programs and payroll operations. This individual will serve as a primary resource for employees and managers regarding benefits, payroll, leave administration, and HRIS-related questions.
The ideal candidate has at least five years of benefits administration experience, strong knowledge of employment and benefits regulations, and hands-on experience working with an HRIS/HCM platform. Experience with Paylocity, complex benefit programs, open enrollment, and leave administration is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Benefits Administration
- Participate in the design, implementation, and administration of company benefit programs.
- Advise employees, managers, and other stakeholders regarding benefit eligibility, plan provisions, enrollment, and regulatory compliance.
- Escalate complex benefit issues when appropriate.
- Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations through vendor portals and Paylocity HCM.
- Coordinate and maintain benefit carrier connections within Paylocity.
- Develop and conduct benefit orientation sessions for new employees.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve benefit offerings and the employee experience.
- Review and reconcile monthly benefit invoices to ensure accurate and timely processing.
- Coordinate annual open enrollment activities, including employee communications, system validation, and testing.
- Monitor benefit trends and provide analysis and recommendations.
- Support benefits audits, system implementations, HR projects, and employee communications.
- Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
Payroll Administration
- Assist with the accurate and timely processing of biweekly and off-cycle payrolls.
- Maintain employee payroll records, tax-withholding elections, direct-deposit information, and earnings histories in Paylocity HCM.
- Review and audit timekeeping records, wage calculations, deductions, and payroll reports.
- Assist with payroll-related filings, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and auditing.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable wage-and-hour laws, tax regulations, and federal and state requirements.
Leave and Absence Administration
- Support the administration of employee leave and absence programs, including:
- Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
- Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (MA PFML)
- Workers’ compensation
- COBRA
- Short-term disability (STD)
- Long-term disability (LTD)
- Maintain accurate leave records and communicate eligibility, documentation, and return-to-work requirements to employees and managers.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- At least 4 years of benefits administration experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing benefit enrollment, vendor relationships, open enrollment, and benefits compliance.
- Experience administering complex benefit programs, including self-insured plans and plan-design changes.
- Working knowledge of applicable employment, payroll, and benefits laws, including FLSA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, ACA, FMLA, and state leave regulations.
- Experience supporting leave administration, including FMLA and PFML.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using HRIS/HCM platforms; advanced system knowledge is preferred.

- Ability to identify opportunities to streamline and automate processes with minimal oversight.

Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Paylocity HCM.
- Experience working in a non-union manufacturing environment.

- Experience supporting payroll audits, year-end processing, and W-2 reconciliation.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
This position operates in a professional, open-concept office environment and routinely uses computers, phones, photocopiers, and other standard office equipment.
The employee must be able to communicate verbally and in writing, move throughout the office, use a computer for extended periods, reach with their hands and arms, and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. The position also requires close, distance, and color vision.
