Construction Manager – Security & Telecom Systems

Location: Greater Lubbock, TX (Full Onsite)

Work Week: 50 hours

Per Diem: $150/day (7 days/week)

Hourly Range (Converted):

• $80/hr built in overtime and per diem)
• Up to $280k/year

About the Role

A national construction and technology‑infrastructure contractor is seeking an experienced Construction Manager – Security & Telecom Systems to oversee low‑voltage electrical and security‑system installations for large‑scale, high‑tech construction projects. This role is fully onsite in Childress, TX and requires strong leadership, technical coordination, and hands‑on oversight of subcontractors, vendors, and field teams.

You will serve as the primary technical advisor for telecom, security, and low‑voltage electrical systems from preconstruction through commissioning, ensuring quality, schedule alignment, and safe execution.

Key Responsibilities

Daily Field & Installation Oversight

• Oversee telecom/security electrical subcontractors and vendors to ensure installation progress aligns with schedule.
• Support system startup and commissioning activities.
• Verify equipment readiness and ensure all startup documentation is complete.

Technical Coordination & Startup Leadership

• Interpret construction documents, control sequences, and technical manuals.
• Lead startup meetings with construction managers, design teams, subcontractors, utilities, and owners.
• Coordinate mechanical/electrical startup activities across multiple trades.
• Ensure MEP systems integrate correctly with civil, architectural, and structural elements.

Documentation, Submittals & Quality Control

• Review and process project submittals; ensure accuracy across interconnected MEP components.
• Manage RFIs, change documents, and record‑document organization.
• Conduct field surveys, layout control lines, and benchmarks.
• Maintain detailed documentation for commissioning, punch lists, and quality control.

Training & Owner Support

• Organize and facilitate training for owner personnel on system operation and maintenance.

Low‑Voltage Electrical Management

• Assist in estimating low‑voltage budgets.
• Secure subcontractor buyout and equipment procurement.
• Manage subcontractor contracts, modifications, billing, and schedules of values.
• Support staffing and resource planning for low‑voltage teams.

Communication & Reporting

• Write meeting minutes, schedules, activity checklists, and progress reports.
• Provide clear communication verbally, electronically, and in writing.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years of electrical construction experience.
• Experience with industrial or high‑tech semiconductor projects preferred.
• Strong understanding of telecom/security electrical construction.
• Familiarity with CSI specification systems and construction materials/methods.
• LEED accreditation preferred (or ability to obtain within 18 months).

Technical Skills

• Ability to interpret design and construction documents.
• Strong visual observation and field‑interpretation skills.
• Proficiency with:
• Windows & Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Bluebeam
• Project management tools: Prolog, Procore, E‑Builder, MS Project, Primavera P6
• Design tools: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Ability to access all levels of construction sites, including ladders, scaffolds, confined spaces.
• Must lift/carry up to 50 lbs and move it 50–100 feet.
• Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Ability to operate computers and office equipment.
• Must safely operate a vehicle; valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to work near loud equipment and wear hearing protection.
• Strong judgment, organizational skills, and problem‑solving ability.
